What can happen without maintenance

Outdated plugins are one of the most common ways in for an attack. After an update something is suddenly broken, or the site is offline and nobody notices. Cleaning up a hacked website quickly costs more than years of maintenance.

What is included

• Updates for WordPress, the theme and plugins every week, with a backup first and a visual check of the main pages afterwards
• A daily backup stored off the server, kept for 30 days
• Restore included when an update breaks something
• Uptime monitoring around the clock, with an alert to me
• Security: malware scan, login protection, and a check for known gaps in plugins
• SSL certificate and domain expiry kept in view
• A form test every month: does the enquiry actually arrive?
• A PageSpeed check and a check for broken links every month
• SEO & GEO: Search Console checked for errors, business details and structured data kept current, a ranking report, and a sample in ChatGPT and Gemini. GEO means AI assistants such as ChatGPT can find your business too.
• A short monthly report: what was done, what stands out, what I recommend
• 1 hour per month for small changes such as texts, images and opening hours (not carried over)
• A reply within 1 working day

How it runs

1. Website check: I look at access, condition, plugins and hosting. The effort estimate is free.
2. Setup: Backups and monitoring in place, and old issues tidied if needed.
3. Ongoing care: Updates and checks on the rhythm above.
4. Monthly report: What was done, plus the ranking report.

Price

From CHF 149 per month, cancel any month. Everything in the list above is included.

Billed by time at CHF 60/hour, in 15-minute increments: work beyond the included hour, new pages or features, cleanup after a hack, and larger rebuilds such as a PHP change with adjustments or a theme change.

Not in the price: hosting, the domain and plugin licences. You pay those directly to the provider.

Shops on WooCommerce or sites with WPML: from CHF 199 per month, because more plugins are involved and I test the checkout as well.

What does WordPress maintenance include?

Weekly updates, daily backups, uptime and security monitoring, a monthly form and PageSpeed check, an SEO & GEO check with a ranking report, a short monthly report and 1 hour for small changes. It starts at CHF 149 per month and can be cancelled any month.

Do I actually need a maintenance contract?

Not necessarily. A WordPress website does need regular updates, otherwise the risk of being hacked rises. Without a contract I also do updates one by one at CHF 60 per hour.

Do you take on websites somebody else built?

Yes. I look at the site first, meaning plugins, theme and hosting, and I tell you whether some tidying is needed before care starts. The effort estimate is free.

What happens if something breaks after an update?

I restore the backup from the day before, or I fix the fault. That is included in the maintenance. You do not pay extra for it.

Why is SEO & GEO part of the maintenance?

Because a website only helps when people can find it. The monthly ranking report shows you where you stand on Google, and you can see whether the work is paying off.
