Website test before go-live: find the faults before your client does

A second pair of eyes before go-live.

For your own business: A test also makes sense before you relaunch your own website.

Just before go-live

Just before go-live the team often runs out of time, and the person who built a page misses their own faults more easily. A broken form otherwise shows up only when enquiries stop arriving.

What is included

  • A click-through on desktop and mobile in the common browsers
  • Forms, including delivery of the email
  • Links and redirects
  • Layout, line breaks and images
  • A bug report with a screenshot, the device, the browser, steps to reproduce and how urgent it is
  • Optional: fix the faults directly (WordPress, Elementor) and retest

How it runs

  1. Request: The link, access to the staging site, and what I should watch for.
  2. Estimate: The effort, within 4 working hours.
  3. Test: A systematic click-through against a checklist.
  4. Report: As a table, a PDF or straight into your ticket system. Fixes and a retest are optional.

Price

Billed by time at CHF 60/hour, in 15-minute increments. I estimate the effort beforehand. Fixes straight after the test are at the same rate.

Experience

I also test on a freelance basis for Testbirds, a crowdtesting platform. Which clients and products I test there stays confidential.

More on working together: WordPress support for agencies. A single page: landing page design. How agencies hand off tickets: outsource the backlog. A question first? Contact.

FAQ

How is this different from a usability test?

In a usability test you watch real users work through tasks. I check the technical side: does everything work, does everything look right, and on which devices are there faults. That is faster and fits just before go-live.

What does a website test cost?

I bill by time at CHF 60 per hour, in 15-minute increments. Beforehand you get an estimate of how long the test will take for your site.

What does the bug report look like?

Each fault is listed with a screenshot, the device and browser, steps to reproduce and a view of how urgent it is. You get it as a table, a PDF or straight into your ticket system.

Do you fix the faults as well?

Yes, for WordPress and Elementor, straight afterwards. For other systems I deliver the report so your team can start at once.

Does this stay confidential?

Yes. Discretion and an NDA are possible, as with WordPress support for agencies. I do not name clients or projects.
