Local SEO in Basel: found when nearby customers search.
For local searches Google shows only a few map results. I improve the Business Profile, the website and the business details so the ranking gets stronger and ChatGPT, Perplexity and others are more likely to find the business.
For SMEs. This page is written for local businesses. Agencies with a client backlog will find the WordPress support page a better fit.
What the local SEO setup includes
- Keyword research: which phrases do your customers in and around Basel actually search for?
- Google Business Profile: categories, services, opening hours, photos and a simple plan for posts
- Consistent business details: the same name, address and phone number on the website, Google, local.ch, search.ch and other directories
- On-page SEO with RankMath: titles, meta descriptions, headings and internal links
- Structured data: LocalBusiness schema with address, coordinates, opening hours and service area
- Reviews: a simple routine for asking happy customers for a Google review
GEO: visible in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI overviews
More people now ask an AI instead of a search engine. Those systems recommend businesses they can identify clearly and trust: consistent business details, direct answers to real customer questions, structured data and mentions on other websites. The local SEO setup builds those foundations in from the start.
Who local SEO is for
Any business with a local catchment: trades, clinics, fiduciaries, restaurants, hairdressers, gyms or consultancies. In Basel, close to Germany and France, a clearly defined service area helps, for example Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft and the tri-border region.
Process
- Analysis: starting point, competition in Google Maps and the searches that matter
- Implementation: Business Profile, directories, on-page work and schema
- Handover: a short guide so you can keep the profile and reviews up to date yourself
- Optional: ongoing support with a monthly ranking report
Rank Math Pro and WP Rocket
The free version of RankMath is enough to start. Rank Math Pro and WP Rocket are worth adding: more structured-data features and a faster site. You buy the licences yourself and they stay in your account. From the vendor the bundle is about CHF 155.00 per year, billed in euro. The first year is often cheaper.
Google Ads, booked separately
Google Ads is not included in the CHF 890 setup.
- Setup, CHF 390: one account, conversion tracking, one local search campaign, ads and the link to the Google Business Profile
- Care, CHF 190 per month: one check per month for that single campaign, cancel any month
- The ad spend paid to Google is extra and is not part of these prices
- Anything beyond that is billed at CHF 45 per hour
FAQ
How long until local SEO shows results?
The first improvements in the Google Business Profile often show within a few weeks. Stable rankings for competitive phrases usually take three to six months, depending on competition, reviews and the starting point.
What does local SEO in Basel cost?
The one-off setup is a fixed price of CHF 890 for WordPress sites. Ongoing support with updates, monitoring and a monthly ranking report starts at CHF 149 per month. Google Ads is separate: CHF 390 to set up, CHF 190 per month to run. The ad spend paid to Google is extra.
Does the fixed price apply to other systems?
The price of CHF 890 is for WordPress, including RankMath. Rank Math exists only for WordPress. For another CMS or a custom-built site, I first look at how the copy and structured data are maintained, then I quote.
Do I need a new website for this?
No. I optimise your existing WordPress site. I only recommend a rebuild when the technical setup is clearly holding the rankings back, and I explain why.
What is the difference between SEO and GEO?
SEO optimises for classic search results. GEO (generative engine optimization) helps AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Perplexity recognise your business, describe it correctly and recommend it. Both rest on the same foundations.
Prefer to test it on a real ticket?
Send me a small task. The first one, up to 30 minutes, is free. After that, CHF 45 per hour or a fixed price.
